Church of God History

The Church of God (Anderson, Indiana) began in 1881 when Daniel S. Warner and several associates felt constrained by the denominational hierarchies of the day and chose to pursue a movement to restore unity and holiness to the church (known as the Holiness Movement). Deeply influenced by Wesleyan theology, he began publishing the “Gospel Trumpet” for all believers and was soon invited to Ontario, Canada to speak. There, the Church of God in Eastern Canada was born. The Church of God is considered a Wesleyan-Holiness movement and has churches all over the world.

At present, there are 22 congregations across Western Canada. Each congregation is autonomous in its ministry and governance with organizational and spiritual support from the regional leadership team at CCOGM. For more information on Canadian Church of God Ministries please visit ccogm.ca

Our History

Our church community first opened its doors in 1947 on the corner of First Avenue and Williams Street as First Avenue Church of God. For many years God blessed those that attended our services in that building and we are incredibly blessed for the Lord's faithfulness over that time.

In 2005 we sold our building downtown and moved out to Rosedale and rebranded as Rosedale Community Church of God. In 2011 the new Rosedale Traditional School was built, which is where we still hold our current services and programs.

Future Dreams

The church owns property here in Rosedale (near the Popkum roundabout). While there are no current development plans, our leadership is praying excitedly for all that God plans to do through our community. Please join us in praying and discerning all that God has for us in the future!
